For more than 100 years BERNAL has
been dedicated to the production of quality Olives and Pickles.
Established by José Bernal, the son of a farming family, in1900, the family business, Aceitunas Bernal, started producing pickles from products grown on their farm notably capers. Today, the 4th generation of the BERNAL family continues with its commitment to produce high-quality olives and pickles respecting radition but embracing modern technology and changes in market expectations.
During its early years Bernal served a largely local and regional market, including travelling widely to sell their products at a time when travel and communications were not as they are today. It must have been hard work. But perseverence paid off and, with the rapid development of the Spanish economy in the 1960’s, the third generation built new, larger facilities and expanded into the wider national market. In 1990, the production facilities were further modernised and expanded with significant growth in the Spanish national market and entry into the export market. Bernal entered the US market in 2014.
Today, Bernal is an impressive business participating in food fairs worldwide, developing new premium products and brands. It selects the finest olives of Spanish origin: Chamomile, Gordal, Cuquillo, Pelotín, Hojiblanca, Marteña, Morada Cornicabra, Picual, Ocal, Verdial, ….
It is accredited by IFS International Food Standard and the US FDA that protects and regulates food imports into the United States. Its products are endorsed by the quality department and analyzed by the National Conservation Technology Center.
Bernal’s products are sold widely in Spanish supermarkets and in may parts of the world but never losing their true Spanish tradition and all the flavours that go with it.
